KK4RSINGLE-OP LOWConditions were good, but I had little time for this contest. The best part was working one before I heard their call sign. A nice young lady was doing a good job on the mic, and I knew it wasn't a dupe. When I asked for the call and got N3QE, th

KS3DSINGLE-OP LOWConditions for this SOLP station were pretty bad. Down 10 Qs and 12 Mults from last year, which cut my previous score by more than half. Noisiest band conditions and weakest signals I've ever heard. The top of the cycle may be great for the highe

LX1NOSINGLE-OP HIGHIt's amazing how many people think 1kc distance to the other station is more than enough room.

M0PLX/MSINGLE-OP LOWMobile station working from a car on the AMPRO 160 antena
N0JKSINGLE-OP LOWPut the rain gutter antenna into service again to hand out a few contacts. SSB more difficult than CW! No foreign DX, longest distances worked were to NC, PA, and VA.

N4BAAASSISTED HIGHBest 6 hours of the year! Always fun! 1/4 full size vertical with 200 radials. No receive antennas this year... Normally 8 circle array and 20+ bevearges. 73 Jose N4BAA
N4IWASSISTED LOWSince I don?t have a real 160 meter antenna, this is a difficult contest for me, not to mention that for me, nighttime is for sleeping. Those excuses aside I gave it a shot. I started late on Friday evening due to family-time, and was surprised at how few stations there were on that I could hear. I went to bed early because that?s how I roll. By that time, I had worked most of the stations that I could hear. I got up early Saturday morning and could not hear but one contest station for the first hour and he was a dupe from Ohio. I felt better when I looked at the Online Scoreboard because there were only 103 US stations listed on there. At the end of the contest there were only 134 US Stations on there! I know everyone does not use the Scoreboard, but this gives a small contest feel to me. Friday night, I had the pleasure of working Ken (K4XL), and I initially messed up the exchange by pushing the wrong F Key. Ken, now you know what happened.

N9ARXSINGLE-OP LOWMy first ever 160M contest. It was fun making some of my first 160M contacts! 73's Clark de N9ARX
N9TFSINGLE-OP LOWVery PT. Only a couple of hours each night for my 160m fix! Band was noisy and not in great shape. Tough on SSB with a compromise antenna. Only heard a couple weak EU Friday night, working east coast stations. MIA were the many Caribbean stations I can usually work on CW. No DX worked here. Some of my attention early Saturday night was diverted to the RTTY NAQP. I hit 100 Qs late Saturday night and called it a contest. No more new calls heard and activity had dwindled. On the bright side, I beat last years score! 73, Gene N9TF K3S 100 watts to 6BTV w/160 parallel inverted L wire at 6BTV feed point.
N9TNTSINGLE-OP LOWHalf-wave 160m end-fed wire 25 ft above the ground at highest
ND8DXSINGLE-OP HIGHThe Contest started out rather well with decent rate for daylight, was called by PP5JR, and earlier than expexted by CR3W and EI7M. I said to myself HANG ON THIS IS GONNA BE ONE HECK OF A RIDE ! NOT the ride I expected as it went down "The Black Hole in the Middle" not too long after!! Saturday night and Sunday morning was better but no EU runs and not one DL although most EU's that called were loud. I think the first 24 turned most OP's off. No matter the conditions CQ160 is still my favorite Contest. Thanks to all that called and gave fills as as needed.

NW5QSINGLE-OP LOWUsing an end fed sloper at 25 feet. A big coil and about 60 feet of wire with 4 of my steel fence posts used as a counterpoise. My success is very much dependent on the quality of the receive antenna(s) at the other end.
