K3AJ | MULTI-OP | K3AJ operated from the shack. WT3K, ND3D, K3WA operated remotely. |
K3CCR | ASSISTED HIGH | K3CCR is the club station at the Collington continuing-care retirement community at FM 18OW in MD, just east of DC. As the only CW op, I (N3UM) did SOHP Assisted in the 2025 CQ 160 CW. With Kp=0.7-1, I hoped to beat the 1607 Q pts & 67 mults I got in 2024 for a 107.7 K claim. Nope. I got 67 mults, but activity was down 110 fewer Qs. So, I got 1309 Q pts to claim 0.815 X my 2024 score. At start 2200-0100Z I ran for 211 Qs at 71/hr & 32 St/Pv mults, 70% of my total 46, out to LA & MN. I clicked spots 0104-0223Z for 55 Qs at 42/hr, plus 6 St mults out to AZ and UT, + 3 Cty mults in NA and SA. I ran again 0223-0253Z for 23 Qs at 46/hr, then clicked 0254-0354Z for XE & HQ9 & 18 Qs in 1 hr slow, few spots to work. A run 0357-0435Z for 22 Qs was 2X faster, 36/hr, but no mults. Got 15 Qs 0446-0551Z & QRT with 341 Qs, 805 Q pts, 39 St/Pv, & 6 Ctys. Back on 2206-2241Z I clicked for 16 Qs & DC, 27/hr, then ran 2249- 0031Z for 63 Qs, 37/hr. I clicked 0036-0132 for 12 Qs & KP2. Slow, and dull. Then, NOT dull 0136-0223Z I got 16 EU Qs, w/ 13 mults! From 0228-0403Z I clicked for 19 Qs & MS + 1 last EU, no mult. I ran 0406-0500Z for 37 Qs, 41/hr + NM, AB, & NE. From 0504 to 0511Z QRT, 5 last Qs & SK just dupes left. In CONUS I got all in W1-W5, W8, & W9, & all W0 but SD & ND. No Qs W of UT & AB. Got 6 VE Pvs. |
K3STX | SINGLE-OP HIGH | Ever since Christmas TERRIBLE QRM, sounds like switching power supply from a nearby neighbor. Now I feel bad for city dwellers who complain about this all the time. Only operated 25 minutes was fresh meat and incredible pileups (for me). Sorry I was such an alligator, could not hear well at all. Paul |
K3SV | ASSISTED HIGH | Part-time effort. Waited until 0300/0400 looking for EU. Not much Friday evening but Saturday evening opened to central Florida about the best in many moons for me. Picked up close to 100 10 pointers. No receive antennas because of hurricanes but did manage to get the inverted "L" (FCP) back up. I wasn't expecting much because the noise on 160 has been terrible here with no rain. I think the past week of some rain did help lower the noise. Thanks for the Q's 73 Bill K3SV |
K3SWZ | ASSISTED HIGH | Two KH6 QSO's were ESP Only heard one European Three Beverages were hot and cold Alwasy fun to operate 160 Meters |
K3TW | ASSISTED LOW | Inverted-L with four elevated radials. |
K4CBW | SINGLE-OP LOW | 1/4 wave vertical |
K4DXV | SINGLE-OP LOW | Antenna: 80-meter Inverted Vee with Tuner Apex at approximately 30 feet above ground. |
K4FR | SINGLE-OP LOW | Very casual effort. Enjoyed the contest. First time on 160m from my home QTH. Very short loaded vertical. Had a great time. Thrilled to work and hear a couple dx stations. Time to get more serious about 160m and build a permanent antenna! 73 |
K4FTO | ASSISTED LOW | 32 foot base loaded vertical |
K4GM | ASSISTED LOW | 80 meter inverted V at 45 feet with tuner |
K4HQK | SINGLE-OP LOW | One-half of an 80 meter dipole. |
K4PQC | SINGLE-OP QRP | Lots of fun despite having lots of line noise. I could only work stations that were S-7 or higher. Couldn't run because of the noise. Still, a great contest! |
K4RO | ASSISTED HIGH | Very poor conditions to EU first night, followed by very good conditions to EU second night. Quite a contrast from middle Tennessee. |
K4WI | ASSISTED HIGH | Completely forgot about this TEST until Saturday afternoon! Got set up and things got off to a poor start. The band was S7 to 9 with noise and signals all had terrible QSB. Fartherest station was MN and only DX was ZF, XE, HQ and V31. So only end |
K4ZGB | SINGLE-OP LOW | Inverted "L" @ 50 feet |
K5KU | SINGLE-OP LOW | inv l |
K5QQ | ASSISTED LOW | 135' end fed with Icom AH-740 Tuner. 16' high at feed point, 35' high at far end |
K5RX | SINGLE-OP HIGH | Per N1MM, I operated 18 hr, 26 min (1106 minutes). Actually, fewer than 18 hours operated - took many breaks under 30 minutes long. Even with much shorter Beverages and in fewer directions than at previous QTH, I hear mostly as well because of lower line noise. The main exception is not being able to hear DX through stateside QRM as well as I did with much longer Beverages at the old place. I don't think that will change because of the layout of the land. The big issue is the much reduced transmit antenna performance. That I will change. Condtions were a bit better than last year, meaning they rose to average at best. Activity the second night was horribly low by about 0600Z. |
K5TIA | SINGLE-OP HIGH | Single end fed wire @ 27 feet. |
K5VIP | ASSISTED HIGH | 100% S&P |
K5XU | SINGLE-OP LOW | Some great receivers out there that dug out my short antenna weak signal. |
K6FA | SINGLE-OP HIGH | Was surprised with some of the stations I worked because of the QSB. Did manage to work some new states so hoping they will upload to LoTW. Antenna used is an Alpha Delta trapped 3 band Inverted Vee. |
K6MI | ASSISTED HIGH | Sloper antenna. |
K6NR | SINGLE-OP HIGH | Operating from Parks, Arizona - conditions didn't seem as good Friday as they were for the ARRL 160 in December. However Saturday, although stateside was about the same, I heard a number of Eu stations including DA1DX, 9A5M, and LY4A. I actually worked G6XX after many calls. Also worked CT9ABP who heard me right away. Great fun - 160 FT8 after the contest was great to Eu as well. Thanks for the QSOs - 73, Dana Station: Elecraft K4 - KPA500 500 watts to inverted L up 30 feet over "not enough" radials. |

K7ARJ | SINGLE-OP LOW | Low profile antenna -- 160-meter transmission line antenna from Ham Radio magazine, May 1985, pp 87-91, by Ted S. Rappaport, N9NB. |
K7NJ | ASSISTED HIGH | Conditions were unstable and a bit strange. Called many Europeans that didn't come back. Transmitting antenna is a 54 foot top-loaded vertical. Receiving antennas are three bi-directional Beverages: EU/ZL, JA/SAm, E/W. |
